Alex Nicoll is an SEI alumni employee.
Alex Nicoll is a Senior Cyber-Security Analyst with the CERT program at Carnegie Mellon University. Alex serves as the technical lead for Cyber-Security Compliance Validation assessments performed at the behest of the Department of Homeland Security. In addition to his CCV work, Alex also functions as a subject matter expert on various security and privacy related topics including secure operating systems and vulnerability assessments. Prior to joining CERT, Alex was a Senior Technology Research Fellow at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (A NSA Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance), where he served as the Associate Director of the Nebraska University Consortium on Information Assurance. Alex also worked for BAE Systems at US Strategic Command. Alex served as the primary Systems Architect on the Distributed Command and Control (DC2), designing data centers and large scale redundant/fault-tolerant computing systems. Prior to his work at the University of Nebraska, Alex was a systems administrator and engineer for both Texas Tech University and Purdue University.
