Timothy A. Chick

Tim Chick is a senior member of the technical staff and Security Automation Systems Technical Manager at the SEI, working in the Software Solutions Division.

Chick Leads an engineering team in building and operating secure systems and provides engineering and consulting support to DoD and DHS programs as they progress through the full software engineering lifecycle. The team’s emphasis is on security and automation related practices, tools, and associated systems

Chick is also directly responsible for over $6.5 million in direct customer work, spanning multiple customers and geographical locations. This work requires coordination across the SEI in obtaining and coordinating all the various skills needed to fully meet the customer expectations and use of limited subject matter expertise.

During Chick’s previous 10 years at the SEI, he was responsible for defining and developing high-performance software and systems engineering practices and transitioning them into practice. As the CERT/CC Engineering Process and Verification Lead, he conducted quantitative and qualitative benchmarking of a medical device company’s research and development division’s software development capability. He also led the transformation of CGI Federal, TPG, SEID division’s approach to developing software. Prior to joining the SEI, Chick worked for Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), as a project manager, leading software development projects and software process improvement efforts for the E-2C Hawkeye Program.

Chick holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Clemson University and an MS from Johns Hopkins University.
