Abstract

This talk will investigate why most deepfake videos fail to replicate photo-realistic results. By leveraging traditional media FX principles we demonstrate how creators can enhance deepfake realism. Participants will learn best practices for visually evaluating media authenticity.

Eileen Angulo is a Senior Multi-Media Designer in the CERT Division of the Software Engineering Institute.

Dominic Ross is a Multi-Media Design Team Lead in the CERT Division of the Software Engineering Institute. Dom' career started as a media artist specializing in broadcasting and post-production. Dom currently designs and maintains production studios and systems used to acquire training, conferences, webinars, corporate and broadcast video - used by the federal cybersecurity workforce, Carnegie Mellon University and the Software Engineering Institute. Dom’s expertise in workflow optimization combined with a commitment to process improvement through computer automation and software engineering helps his team expand their services outside of their directorate.
