Abstract

Summary

  • Appraisers have to understand agility and CMMI.
  • No fundamental contradiction was found between agility and CMMI for the maturity/capability levels two and three.
  • "Core" agility is a set of principles, values, and framework, not a full processes model. Therefore, some CMMI aspects are not covered.
  • CMMI has to be combined with elements from traditional development paradigms to make agility practicable in industrial product development.
  • The mentioned appraisal methods are suitable for identifying gaps in agility "through CMMI glasses." They also help to institutionalize agility, particularly in a larger environment.

Please note that current and future CMMI research, training, and information has been transitioned to the CMMI Institute, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University.
