Abstract
A warfighter in a tactical situation captures data using a sensor connected to a mobile handheld device and needs results quickly to make important decisions. However, issues such as device, energy, and network limitations and lack of service reliability often interfere. The SEI investigates and applies principles of cloud computing to support compute- and energy-intensive tasks on resource-constrained handheld devices in tactical environments.
