Abstract

In this presentation, given at the CERT Data Science and Cybersecurity Symposium, Eliezer Kanal discusses how machine learning—the process of automating data analysis and inference—is used in cybersecurity. Machine learning is especially good at two things: prediction and classification. Using machine learning is faster and can cover things a human won't find. Example uses include identifying potential insider threats by processing huge amounts of data quickly and automatically triaging a high volume of job tickets.
