Donald Firesmith of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) delivered this presentation on engineering safety-related requirements for software-intensive systems at the 13th IEEE International Requirements Conference, held in Paris, France, from August 29th to September 2nd, 2005.
Firesmith concludes that engineering safety-significant requirements require concepts, methods, techniques, and expertise from both requirements engineering and safety engineering. Multiple types of safety-related requirements have different forms and need to be analyzed and specified differently.
